Chances are if you’ve heard of Vernon Kay (and if you haven’t…what are you doing here?) then you’ll know that he is incredibly proud of the his Bolton roots.
It seems that for Bolton, the feeling is mutual! Next month, Vernon will have an honorary doctorate bestowed upon him by the city’s university as part of a two-day celebration at Victoria Hall in Bolton City centre.
University vice-chancellor Dr George Holmes said:
“We are proud to be celebrating the achievements of our graduating students as we welcome our honoured guests to the university’s degree congregation ceremonies.
“Those receiving honorary doctorates are examples of the shining talent within the Bolton family, in fields of particular interest to the university, from those successful in the media, the creative industries of entertainment and music, as well as sport.”
Others in attendance with Vernon include Gary Neville and founding members of the acclaimed band The Buzzcocks.
