Vernon will be broadcasting his Radio 1 show tomorrow morning live from Carlisle ahead of next weekend’s Big Weekend.

Joining Vernon will be Charlie Simpson, Carlisle’s own Helen Skelton and 200 young volunteers from the local areas.  During the course of the show they will be doing up youth centres in Carlisle, Cumbria and other surrounding towns!

The team will be based in Carlisle Youth Zone, a brand spanking new centre aimed at becoming a hub for young people in Carlisle. 

Vernon’s volunteering army will meet there and be bused out to rural locations where youth clubs and projects are in need of some regeneration. They’ll be doing a range of activities in order to prepare the area for the Big Weekend from picking up litter, painting murals, planting flowers, handing out leaflets and doing up remote control car tracks. 

These 200 young volunteers will be giving up their Saturday to make a difference to their local areas and communities with the help and motivation of Vernon during his show.
