Vernon, Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman and Gary Lineker are among the celebrities who will be bringing puppets back to prime time after the BBC revealed plans for a brand new Saturday night entertainment show.

In ‘That Puppet Game Show’, a brand new cast of Jim Henson puppet characters will invite two celebrity guests to enter their world. The guests will go head to head in a series of unique games run by the cast of characters and take part in a variety of sketches, in what will be a warm, cheeky, family affair fuelled by a healthy dose of off-the-wall, madcap fun

That Puppet Game Show will mix a celebrity team quiz with comedy inserts revolving around the backstage antics of its foam cast, created by Muppet supremos The Jim Henson Company.

Vernon Kay, Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman and Gary Lineker are among those taking part in the game show part of the programme, facing challenges related to a range of topics – each set by a different puppet – in a bid to win money for their chosen charities.

The main host will be long-chinned puppet character Dougie Colon – pronounced ‘cologne’ – who is being touted by BBC One as ‘the new face of Saturday night TV’.
